CWG Rules and Responsibilities

As much as we trust our gardeners, we still need to enforce a few rules to keep order in the community garden. Failure to meet these obligations can result in losing your plot.

1. Only Haddonfield residents or authorized individuals are permitted to maintain a garden plot.

  1. Garden plots must be maintained throughout the growing season, which runs from April 15th to November 15th. This includes continuously managing the weeds in your plot through the growing season.
  2. Garden members must be actively gardening by May 1st. If a plot appears abandoned during the growing season, it may be revoked after a warning is issued.
  3. The path next to each plot must be weeded and it is the gardener’s responsibility to maintain the wood chips surrounding their plot throughout the growing season.
  4. The Borough of Haddonfield has provided water for CWG, however, Garden members must be present at their plot while watering and ensure the main valve is turned off when finished.
  5. Garden plots must be cleaned up before the November inspection date on the CWG calendar.
  6. Plastic fencing and any type of unauthorized sign in your plot is prohibited.
  7. The use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides are prohibited at CWG. Organic methods of gardening are strongly encouraged. Garden members should stick to using only organic fertilizers and, if necessary, organic weed killers, ensuring they’re applied carefully so they don’t harm adjacent garden plots.
  8. Garden members are responsible for amending, enriching, and adjusting the soil within their individual plots as needed for their chosen crops. Garden members are prohibited from removing plot corner stakes or changing designated plot perimeter lines.
  9. Garden members must remove and dispose of their own trash or discarded garden items. Dumping discarded items anywhere in the garden or parking lot areas is prohibited.
  10. Garden members hereby expressly and specifically assume the risk of injury or harm in the activities performed at Crows Woods Gardens. Garden members also expressly and specifically agree to comply with the Borough of Haddonfield laws and ordinances.
  11. Failure to comply with these rules and responsibilities will result in the forfeiture of their gardening privileges.
